The In Process Gauge heads remain in constant contact with the part during the grinding process.  The mechanical measurement is then converted to an electrical signal through the sensor head.  This signal is sent back to the amplifier for machine control.  The sensors can be either  an air gap or LVDT.

The In Process slide is found in front of and behind the measuring head.  It is a hydraulic slide that moves to the exact position to create an increase in measurement accuracy.  It can be single position dual, single position single, or dual position with repeatability of ≤ 1µm.
